Berglind is a Wildlife Conservationist specialising in tropical regions. She has worked in biodiverse landscapes spanning across Latin America and Asia. Her work has included biological surveys of primates, mammals, sea turtles, amphibians, reptiles, butterflies, fishes and habitat structure. Berglind pursued a Master’s degree at Imperial College London in Conservation Science, from which she graduated with Distinction. During her studies she focused on the human dimensions of conservation, and the ways in which we can bridge the gap between research and implementation, and improve the efficiency of conservation initiatives to ensure a long-lasting impact. She is now translating the results of her Master’s thesis on the barriers of captive breeding programmes into usable products for practitioners in her capacity at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Education Director

Alex Porpora is the Executive Director of the Utah Society for Environmental Education and Education Consultant based in Salt Lake City, UT. She is actively involved in local and national environmental education efforts. She has developed award-winning school outreach programs, educational content, and events for nonprofits, zoos, aquariums, museums and for-profit institutions. With a bachelor’s degree in biology and anthropology from the University of Miami and a master’s in Environmental Humanities from the University of Utah, Alex specializes in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), environmental and interdisciplinary education projects. Working with organizations large and small, Alex creates lasting partnerships between nonprofit and for-profit institutions. She has worked with and developed educational content in collaboration with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Bat Conservation International, Duke Lemur Center, the Lemur Conservation Foundation, National Geographic Kids, WildWorks, and the North American Association for Environmental Education.
